Pitta out for the Year

Its been a hard few days for Ravens fans when they have been some bad news that came out of training camp.

On Wednesday, we found out that Jacoby Jones failed his conditional test. I know some of the fans wonder if Dancing with the stars messed up is preparation for camp. We know that we tried for him to win the contest, but around the time of mini camp. I wanted Jacoby to get voted off so he can come back to the castle to help us repeat as Super Bowl champs. To me football is more important than some dumb dance competition. On Friday he retook the conditional test and passed it.

There were reports that said the Ravens will resign there former pro bowl fullback Vonta leach. We cut him a month ago to help clear up some cap space. Its now Monday and we still don't have him yet. I hear on ESPN that he will sign with us or go New York Giants  or the Miami  Dolphins

The most heart breaking news that came out of camp so far is that our star tight end will miss the entire season because of sever hip injury. This is a huge blow for the offense and to the whole team because he was really good friends with star QB Flacco. And it showed on game days because Pitta was making some big plays for us in key situations. I was hearing reports that we were planing to but pitta in the slot like we did with Boldin.

Since Pitta going to be out for the year, we signed Visante Shiancoe to a 1 year contract. he will be competing against Billy Bajema to be Ed Dickson backup. I really don't know if this a good pick up because he only had a few relevant yrs in Minnesota when he played with Hall Famer Brett Favre. Before that he wasn't a known  Tight end is this league and his number has dropped ever since Brett  favre has retired. Some games last yr he played for the Pats with Brady and he still didn't do anything. So i am little worried that this trend will be in effect.

Football is Near

Yesterday the rookies and the players that where hurt for the 2012 season like Lardarius Webb reported to training camp to begin there physicals and conditional test. On Wednesday the rest of the team will show up to do take there physicals and take the conditional test just like the rookies did yesterday. A player cant begin practice till they pass both of the tests. If a player fails the convectional test, they keep doing it till they pass.

They  will practice the next 13 days out of the 15 days till we play the 1st preseason game against the Bucs.
then it will 3 more weeks till we play the Broncos on September 5th. So Football is near.

Ravens cut Leach

Last Monday, the Ravens cut there All-Pro Fullback Vonte Leach. The Ravens tried to restructure his contract so he can get get paid less money. Leach refused to sign the restructured contract so the Ravens had to release there all pro fullback and let the rookie fullback out of Harvard be his replacement.

I think we got ride of Leach because of Joe Flacco Contract. I know the cap space for year 1 Flacco deal is not that much, but in the next coming yrs it going to go up. In year of Flacco deal there going to be 29 million   cap space for Joe. I hope before the ravens before can restructure his deal or I see Flacco being cut too if the Joe don't want to take a pay cut. If the Ravens decided to pay Joe that season that direction it going to hurt us for the next 10 yrs because we have to cut a lot of of your players to go under the cap number and we will have no talent on this team.

Happy Fathers Day

Today is the day where you spend time with your dad and to thank him for all the things he does to you and to help to raise you.

Generally me and my dad don't get along. But I know that he cares about me and that he loves me. I do the same things to him eventhough he is hard on me.

When I was little, I thought that he hated me because he yelled at me about any mistakes I did, even the little things too. This past year, I realized that he did it to me because he loved me and to make me a better person and a better man. I might not be a man yet, but it made me a better person by having discipline.

So remember guys today is about the dads, so please spend time with him.

Jimmy Smith will Step up Big This Year

I was a huge Jimmy Smith fan when the the ravens drafted him back in 2011. At that time we need a good cover CB. Week 1 of his rookie yr, he suffered a high ankle sprain  before he had a chance to step on the field as a starting CB. That's when Pro bowler Ladarius Webb stepped up and took his job. This past season  Webb suffered a ACL injury that was season ending injury. That when jimmy had a chance to prove to us the fans that he a good CB in the NFL like we was in his days in college in Colorado.  He got burned a lot of times the following week against the Houston Texans. However in the Super Bowl  he made the play that won the game over the 49ners. He made sure that there best WR Mike Crabtree  did not catch the ball. There some controversies if he holding on Crabtree, from what I saw it was a clean defensive play.

From what I saw in that final moments in the super bowl, I think Jimmy will step up and be our other starter next to Webb. He has matured a lot since his days in High School and in College. Now it time for him to do what the ravens drafted him in the 1st round to do and that to be the starting CB for the Baltimore Ravens.  However if he doesn't step up i think it time to call him a bust and cut ties with him. This should be the year where he should be in entering his prime as NFL CB.
